Teenagers are weird. I'm not just saying that because I have a older sister who used to be a teenager (now a young adult) and how I am slowly becoming one (!) but its true. I remember my mom saying that teenagers are basically psychopaths because their brains are not fully formed (still) but they are at that awkward stage in between. I think everyone my age either had their mom or grandparent tell them to "promise" to never become a teenager. I was fortunately one of those people. but how can you really prevent yourself from being a teenager? If we are talking about aging up from child than the forces of nature might not like you defying the laws. but If we are talking about the "classic" teenager HABITS than yes, you can. some "classic" teen habits are: smoking, sneaking out, getting into trouble and being mischievous all of which i'm not a huge fan of. These are what teens are "supposed to do" because they are at that state of mind. Although there is a healthier happier alternative. such as: staying on curfew, doing chores, and doing well in school. now what would you prefer? driving to hawaii or flying there? If you said flying, good for you! you just took the happier healthier route. If you are just a good kid, life will be easy for you! aka flying to hawaii. think about it. if you drive to hawaii... well you kinda can't considering it is a island and surrounded by water but that makes my point just a whole lot stronger! even though at the time smoking, drinking, sneaking out, getting into trouble might seem great at the time, but honestly its not... also it will be harder for you in the long run. you will have to start from square one and go walk all the way to the airport, buy your ticket and get on the plane when you could've booked your ride from the beginning. I will definitely look back on this, or just keep my smarts.
I went over to my grandparents house a couple days ago and when ever i go over there I always get chocolate chip waffles in the morning with maple syrup! so after I ate my waffles I went to the fridge to help out and put the syrup away. but it slipped out of my hands!! the top popped off and a big puddle of maple syrup on the carpet! I turned to my grandma and.. she was laughing! she said "its ok, there was a turkey grease stain there anyway, I want new carpet in that room as well" so we scrubbed it clean and went out to go shopping, when we came back, it was all clean and the turkey grease was gone! so, in the end we found out that maple syrup actually can clean stains out of your carpet!
to me the holiday season means, spending time with my family with no interruptions, being able to sit down and watch movies. me listening to crazy Hanukkah songs with my older sister in my room. sitting around the "Hanukkah bush" and opening presents that, I don't really need but are just nice to have. the holiday season means drinking hot chocolate by the fire and talking about our days. its also about joy and having fun with my friends or just really anyone. its about smiling at a stranger just because you want to make someone feel nice. holidays are the one time where i can go on vacation and not worry if i'm missing any thing. you don't even have to celebrate anything to enjoy the holiday season, its about just seeing the city with lights looking all pretty twinkling in the night where there is no stars. its about playing in the snow and building the biggest snowman you can. this is what the holiday season means to me.
I'm going to share with you my personal experience with Christmas presents. just recently I watched this video on creating a book safe, and I thought, 'OMG THIS IS AN AMAZING GIFT' so I wanted to make it. today at my grandparents house. my zeda (grandfather) found me a HUGE, GIGANTIC BOOK about computers. so I drew a relatively big rectangle inside of the book. then me and my zeda went to the garage and he took out this huge sawing tool and opened the book and went nicely on the pencil line I drew. eventually we got to the end, some of the pages were torn, there was random strips sticking out, it didn't look how I planned it to look. I think my zeda could sense that I wasn't sure about how it looked. so, we found a smaller book and made a plan to draw a smaller rectangle when we do make it. it was a learning process but that is what makes things perfect. here are a couple pics of the book I'm changing the project to.
Today was relatively good considering in the morning i had to go back home to get my backpack... heres the story:
so i was super happy and confident this morning because i got itunes on my laptop and got my ipod synced to it and i had lots of time and i had a really good breakfast and i was just happy. i put my lunch in my backpack and went back upstairs to read for a bit. then i came down stairs, grabbed my jacket, put it on then i put on my helmet, unlocked the door got my scooter locked the door and left. i was about halfway to school until i realized something.. i forgot my backpack at home! so thinking that i was going to be impossibly late i turned around immediately and starting running, carrying my scooter with me! and being the silly person i am, my emotions got triggered so i started softly sobbing.. so then i finally got home i ran inside, didn't even bother to take my shoes off, i grabbed my bag and re-locked the door and scootered as fast as i could, in the rain, sobbing my eyes out... i got to school and i thought i was late -typical me- because i couldn't see any people, and then when i figured out i was still crazily early i took off my helmet and took a deep breath in and deep breath out, it was totally a hectic morning!
Today I went to my grandparents' house, my grandma made me soup and I had 2 pieces of kamish bread! for those who don't know kamish bread is a dry pastry made from almonds that originated in Germany but is part of the Jewish tradition. Then after I showed her my song I made ( in my global read aloud section) and she absolutely loved it! She says if she read the book it would have been a little bit more meaningful, but she could tell I put a lot of time into it. Mean while my little sister Kali was hanging out with my mom and Zeda (Grandfather)sucking on the fish food container and banging on the glass rails in the living room. (dont worry, no fish food was consumed! i think...)
Polls are interesting, they get someone's feedback with out the nasty sentence of: "I disagree because.. blah blah blah" right? I am going to put a couple of polls down below and I would like your information on them. I find that even with the slightest of problems, polls really help! example: Which Hair Elastic Color? Pink or Green?: See? even with the craziest of questions, they get to the point! you can put from a minimum of 2 outcomes to a bazillion outcomes max! if course there is the handy "Other" button... There is many different styles you can do it as well! anyway, Hope you enjoy these polls I have put together for you!
So, I scooter to school and back, but usually i'm home alone for around half a hour if I leave after the second bell. And when I get home I yell: "NOBODY HOME?!?" "that's what I thought.." but today I unlocked the door, opened my mouth and I saw my moms boyfriend! he was home early! so I slowly close my mouth and walk upstairs, I was so embarassed! so to tie it up, I'm glad that I didn't say anything!
