mr.d read to the class a bit of an article titled "are we raising a generation of helpless kids?" to see the article click here.
my reaction and response? well, what the article is saying is that teachers should fail students to get them used to being failed in life, for example not getting a job you interviewed for. but with all the things that are happening in our society whereas not only just in school, but at home there is lots of failures so the school system saying that they should fail children to make them work harder may already having things go on with friends or at home with family which makes them crash under pressure. in some cases purposely failing kids makes them work harder and persevere, making them a "stronger person". but if people tell some different, other kids, -everyone is different- that they are smart, amazing and wonderful they will want to keep that up and work hard and just continue what they are doing. it all depends on the type and personality of the kid. for me i know that positive affirmations help me build up my strengths, but for a different kid it might be the opposite. these are my reflections on this post, comment some of yours!
