On Wednesday I continued working on my doll car. I had to finish my cuts, cover with paper/paint and paint the wheels. I did achieve my goal! I finished the base of my car. I added a name, its a blimo. (bus-limo) so all I have to do is add the tires, add glitter and hot glue for headlights and my car is done! Somethings that went well were that I finished my painting on my car and I have only one more step. Somethings that didn't well were that I didn't measure my tires small enough so I just need to draw those tires on. I have posted some pictures below of my progress on the front, back and one side.
On Monday I wanted to work on my doll car. To achieve this I had to cut the cardboard box, tape and glue the sides and edges to grate the small box shape I wanted and I had to draw where I wanted the windows, headlights, tires ect. to be. Did I achieve my goal? Yes I did! I did achieve my goal, I finished everything I needed to do for that day. Everything went well because I was super focused and I competed what I needed to do. Nothing didn't go well. Next time I will want to put some blue paint onto the box for the color. As well as I can finish cutting the windshield and gluing some stacked cardboard for wheels. My headlights will be yellow glitter and I will use cardboard that I painted black and bent for chairs.
I will post a couple of pictures below this blog post to show you what the "car" looks like so far. I have photos of the back, the front and one of the sides.
For Wednesday I wanted to get my walls for my school scene. I also needed to get multiple wall patterns for different scenes. I achieve this I made a list of patterns I needed: Wall for school outside, Walls for school inside and walls for the kitchen. My measurements for the walls were: 2, 8.5x11's for each side. I achieved my goal because I found the perfect paper for inside and outside of my school. Somethings that went well were that I quickly found the paper I needed resulting in a "realistic" look for outside my school as well as a school title. Some things that didn't go well were that I didn't get all the paper I needed to complete other scenes. Down below are the wall patterns I used for my outside of my school, and the inside.
For Monday, May 4th. 2015 I was working on printing out some flooring and wall paper for my box. To achieve this I had to print out my needed patterns, colour my patterns if needed, and glue the printouts to cardboard. My measurements were 4 8.5x11 per 1 floor, and 2 8.5x11 per side of the box I am using. I didn't achieve my goal because I didn't glue it to the cardboard. Some things that went well were that printing was semi-easy and finding the pattern I needed for my flooring was simple enough because I found this one website I can use for printing out my floor patterns and wall patterns. down below you will see the pattern I used for my flooring. My measurements I made were pretty accurate as well; considering I had to change them. Some things that didn't go well, were that I didn't get to gluing my printouts on to the cardboard and I couldn't find the wall paper I wanted. This has been my Genius Hour reflection part 4!
On Wednesday I wanted to get information on problems in high school such as how to prevent giving in to peer pressure or how to avoid it. To achieve this I had to look up how to prevent peer pressure, write it down onto word, and print it out as well as bring it home. I achieved my goal because I did exactly what I needed to do and I was focused. Some things that went well were that I achieved my goal, I kept focused in my work and finished it. Nothing didn't go well because I achieved my goal and kept going until I had the end information I needed.
Today in class I worked on my school scene! I needed a school scene for when my main character Ember goes to her first day in high school. My initial plan was to make lockers, school supplies and desks. But I didn't get to doing that. I didn't achieve my goal for that. but I did make all 5 subject folders I wanted to make so I sort of make school supplies. Some things that went well were that I completed my subject folders and printed some extra "lined paper" for my dolls. I also found different ways of making things for future projects. Some things that didn't go well were that I didn't get to making all the items I wanted to. I do feel like I wasn't as focused as I could have been but I do need to lower my expectations for the day considering it is not a huge period in the day plan. This has been my reflection for April, Tuesday 28th.
So for my first day of Genius Hour I started on the props for my kitchen scene. In class wanted to work on creating a kitchen island and as well as some tools. I looked up tutorials, I brought notes for the furniture and I brought another chair for measurements and a barbie again, for measurements. In the end I didn't achieve my goal because I created one stool instead of the kitchen island I wanted to make. I also didn't get to making other tools. But some things that went well were that I solved a problem in fixing a stool that was off balance. I just had to add some support underneath the seat and on top, beneath and between the legs of the chair. Some things that didn't go well were that my measurements were not off so thats why I had to add extra pieces to the top and bottom of the chair legs. I also didn't get to making the kitchen island. But overall it was my first time making a chair, so I think it turned out really well! I posted a photo of the chair I made and then I just have to paint it, and add some red velvet fabric I have at home to the seat.
For someone who has a lot of passions, Genius Hour was pretty hard for me. Having to pick one passion out of my ten thousand passions, I had to do some thinking. So I came up with the brilliant idea of combining a bunch of my passions into one. The 3 I combined were: Barbies, Helping people, and making videos.
My Genius Hour project is that I will be creating a video series of episodes of this girl (named Ember)
1. My one sentence project was: she is the girl who made songs to inspire others within their daily lives.
2. I am passionate about:
Taking things apart
Playing PC games (not video games)
3. What questions do you want answered in life?
What would it feel like if I were a different person then me?
Why do paper cuts or any sort of harm hurt?
Three words that describe me are:
5. If I were a car my engine would be nail polish because I love painting my nails and putting cool designs on them.
